Alma Ree Morris, 80, of Fairmont, died Thursday (Jan. 24, 2013) at the John Manchin Health Care Hospital in Fairmont.
She was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Deering, Mo., a daughter of the late John Sherman Meherg & Iva Waulene Smith Meherg.
She is survived by her husband John Tilton Morris, of Cornelius, N.C. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2012.
Mrs. Morris is survived by a daughter, Sheree Morris Nixon of Fairmont; a son and daughter-in-law, John Lee and Landa Morris of San Jose, Calif.; two grandchildren, Ryan Christopher Morris and Kylee Ann Morris; and two sisters, DeLois Basnett and her husband Bill Basnett of Las Vegas and Zinetta Nassif and her husband Tom Nessif of La Jolla, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valaree Morris, and a sister, Reva June Meherg.
Mrs. Morris was a retired registered nurse from the Fairmont Emergency Hospital in Fairmont. She also had previously worked as a R.N. for the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Fairmont.
She was a 1950 graduate of Mannington High School and graduated from the St. Mary Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Mrs. Morris was a former Scout leader and enjoyed travelling all 50 states and throughout the world.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. A private committal service will be held at a later date for the family.
