Cecile Vesley

Cecile Marie Vesley, 89, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Jan. 19, 2013) at The Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Center.

She was born in Sevres, France, a suburb of Paris, on Feb. 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Adolph and Heloise Riche.

She came to the United States in 1947 after World War II to become the wife of Clarence Vesley.

She began her life in this country in a small town in Pennsylvania, which was quite a culture shock from growing up in Paris. She gave birth to her only child, Michele, to whom she gave all her devotion and love. Even though she eventually became a citizen of the United States, she always longed to go back to Paris to see her family. Her wish came true, but it was not in time to see her loving mother who had died previously. She later went back to visit her family many times, which fulfilled her desire to return home.

She moved to Fairmont in 1988 to live closer to her daughter. She made a new home and made many new friends. She was a vibrant and animated person. Her personality was infectious and captivating. Everyone who met her just fell in love with her laugh and her smile. The last years of her life she was not the same person on the outside, but inside she was the same loving, wonderful person she always was. Now she is home again, with her mother, her family and friends who have gone before her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Michele Vesley of Fairmont. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Lisa and her husband Michael Dublin of Fairmont, Tiffani Titler and fiancé Sean Cosco of Fairmont, and Brandon and wife Lindsey Titler of Nicholasville, Ky.; she also has five great-grandchildren, Corey and fiancée Onnie Coppolo, Jordan and Spencer Dublin, Hayden Titler, Braylon Titler, Hailey Carrier and Gabriella Cosco; and one great-great grandchild, Carter Coppolo.

She also is survived by several nieces and nephews, Ron and Grace Martin, and Connie Martin of Pennsylvania, and Monique and Maurice Raynaud of France; and many friends she has made through the years, especially Rose Horka and husband Frank from Brownsville, Pa., Patty (Sem) Lofink of Charleroi, Pa., and DeDe Buraczewski of France.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vesley; two sisters, Yvonne and Raymond; previous son-in-law, David Titler; and a very special friend, Jeanine Sem. There were many other friends and relatives who were very special in her life.

A special thanks to the staff of The Arbors, who made her life easier the last years.

Her wishes were to be cremated and interred at Lafayette Memorial Park with her husband, in Brownsville, Pa.

A memorial service may be determined at a later date for those who loved her.

Maman au revoir Je t’aime jusqu’a ce que nous nous revoyions!

Arrangements by Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont.
