Mary Virginia Morris, 99, of Fairmont, died Thursday (Jan. 17, 2013) in the Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Marion County, a daughter of the late James Clem Satterfield and Pearl Demoss Satterfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ellsworth Morris.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and Bryan Nottage of Vero Beach, Fla., and Linda Grogg of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Debra Farrell, David Grogg, Jeffrey Grogg and Mike Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a niece and several nephews.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by a son, William Ellsworth Morris Jr.; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Emma Jane Satterfield; one sister, Josephine Arnett; and a son-in-law, Bernard Grogg.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont.

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Ang and the nurses and staff at the Genesis Pierpont Center in Fairmont.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. on Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Clyde Beard officiating. The committal service will follow in the Mannington Memorial Park.
