William Carson Conrad

William Carson Conrad, 95, of Harrodsburg, Ky., and formerly of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Dec. 30, 2012) at his home.

He was born in Kingmont on May 28, 1917, a son of the late Eugene and Rebecca (Blakemore) Conrad.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Margarete (Billingslea) Conrad, in November of 2007.

William was owner and operator of Conrad Coffee Co. in Fairmont for many years. He was a 1936 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and attended Bowling Green Business University for two years. He enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his son, William Carson Conrad Jr. and his wife Patricia of Harrodsburg, Ky.; and two grandchildren, William Carson Conrad III and his wife Katharine of Lexington, Ky., and Virginia Conrad Biggs and her husband Nathan of Burgin, Ky.; and three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Ann Biggs, Samantha Katharine Conrad and Joshua Lee Biggs.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from noon-2 p.m. on Friday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor John Conaway officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
