Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Lehosit-Rakocky, 97, of Fairmont, died Sunday evening (Oct. 14, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born in Fayette County on Sept. 13, 1915, daughter of the late Steve and Helen Olah Sakaley.
Elizabeth retired from Owens-Illinois where she worked in the selecting department and also previously worked at Westinghouse. After retirement she delivered newspapers for the Times West Virginian.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was an Ecumenical minister at the church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Joan of Arc No. 341. She was also a member of the church choir and TOPS. She was an avid bowler and was a former poll worker.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sue Ann Lehosit and Mark R. and Kimberly Lehosit, both of Fairmont; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Samuel Veltri of Shinnston; and one step-son, Stephen Rakocky of Fairmont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tonya (Pete) Steere, Kelly Lehosit and husband Curtis Jones, Jill (Mike) Straight, Jason (Meighen) Lehosit, Heather (Ryan) Freeman, Chris Veltri, Bruce Veltri, Elaine Veltri and Josh Veltri.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jocelynn Jones, Angelo Jones, Curtlin Jones, Cayden Jones, Ally Straight, Blake Straight, Sophia Elizabeth Lehosit, Chloe Aileen Lehosit, Maximillian Markis Freeman, Tony Veltri, Kash Veltri, Brandi Gaston, Mary Elizabeth Gaston, Maria Veltri, Miranda Veltri, Mikaela Veltri, Melania Veltri and Joshua Veltri; and one great-great-grandchild, Tyler Veltri. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Mike Manzo of Cleveland.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lehosit, in 1986; her second husband, Steve Rakocky, in 2008; five brothers, Frank, Nick, George, John and Sam; two sisters, Erma Jacin and Mollie Juhas; and one step-sister, Isabelle Manzo.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and Friday from noon-4 and 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Maryland Avenue with Fr. Richard Ulam, O.S.B. as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
