Mary Koreski McDonnell, 97, of Shinnston, passed away at 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, (Oct. 9, 2012) at West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial.
She was born in Akron, Ohio, Nov. 15, 1914, a daughter of the late Joseph Stephen and Ursula Chrepk Koreski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McDonnell.
Surviving are one daughter, Mickey Arco, Shinnston; one son, Bud McDonnell and his wife Sandy, Shinnston; three grandchildren, Kevin Arco, Mesa, Ariz., Nikki Tetrick and her husband Patrick, Martinsburg, and Heather Stalnaker and her husband Jason, Shinnston; six great-grandchildren, Lee, Sloan and Alex Arco, Phoenix, Ariz., Sydnie and Andrew Tetrick, Martinsburg, and Jack Stalnaker, Shinnston; a sister-in-law, Mary Wunderlich, Lumberport, and her children, Lisa and Susan; sister-in-law, Christine Koreski, Shinnston, and her children, Ed, Tom, Joe and Ursula Koreski and Tina Delaney; sister-in-law, Helen McDonnell and her son Ron McDonnell; other nieces and nephews, Joseph Koreski, Don Secreto, Stephen Koreski, Mary Katherine Pollock, Anntonia Fullen and Mike Medina. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Sam Arco; niece, Monica McCombs; one sister, Sophia Medina; and three brothers, Ed, Steve and Babe Koreski.
She had formerly worked for Rices Drug and G.C. Murphy’s, Shinnston. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shinnston. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren and cooking meals for Sunday dinner, crocheting and doing word-search puzzles.
Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, Route 19 South, Shinnston, from noon-8 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Father Thomas Dagle as celebrant. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
