Pamala S. “Pam” McDonald, 66, of Fairmont, wife of the late Charles “Chick” McDonald, passed away Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) in her home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1945, in Fairmont, daughter of the late George Herbert and Barbara Jean (Moran) Smith.
She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic School and Fairmont Business College. She was employed at Fairmont General Hospital where she worked for 40 years in the X-ray department as a secretary.
Pam, a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, loved football and basketball. Her favorite teams were the Oakland Raiders, Georgia Bulldogs, West Virginia University Mountaineers and the L.A. Lakers. Her favorite month was October, and her favorite holiday was Halloween.
Pam is survived by two daughters, Alison Mercer of Fairmont and Amanda Hayes and husband D.J. of Worthington; two sons, Charles Marshall “Chickie” McDonald of Georgia and Stephen Linn “Steve” McDonald of Morgantown; two brothers, Steve Smith and wife Sherry of Fairmont and Craig Smith and wife Christie of Germany; five sisters, Nancy Spragg and husband Rick of Pittsburgh, Vicki Riffee and husband Mitch of Fairmont, Cindy Brown and husband Tom of Fairmont, Robin Price and husband Al of Georgia and Christie Smith, also of Georgia; and grandchildren, Ben Mercer, Madison and Taylor Hayes, Stevie Linn McDonald, Mikaylla Darnall, John Andrew McDonald, Marshall “Bubby” Lowry, Brandi Davis, Nikki Thorn, Tyler McDonald and Stephen Tennant. Several great-grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Cam Matthew McDonald.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Azar and Amedysis Hospice for their wonderful care.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., in Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. Monday and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Vincent Cemetery in Colfax.
