Anna Pishner

Anna Margaret Allessio Pishner, 76, of Clarksburg, departed this life Saturday (July 14th, 2012) following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 1, 1935 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late John Allessio and Rosa Spadafore Allessio. Her husband, Louis Pishner, whom she married July 20, 1957, resides at their home in Clarksburg.

Surviving are three children, Diana Walker and her husband Mark of Fairmont, Stephen Pishner and his wife Belinda of Clarksburg, and Anna Margaret Harsh and her husband Greg of Wheeling.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mark Curtis “Curt” Walker Jr., Christopher Louis Walker and his wife Ashley, Courtney Anne Walker, and Grazia Jovan Pishner; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Austin Walker; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Joseph G. Allessio and his wife Shirley of Clarksburg, and Marie Allessio of Detroit, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her grandson, John Joseph Domenick Pishner; and seven siblings, Clara Allessio, Sarah Reger, Carmen Allessio, Julia Leatherman, Frank (Alossie) Allessio, Susie and Mary Susie Allessio.

Anna was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School, Class of 1953. In her earlier years, she was employed at Maidenform, Tuccillo’s Pizza in Broadway, the Madonna Center, and Chum’s Day Care.

Anna spent a great deal of time serving as a volunteer for many organizations, including All Saints School, St. Mary’s Grade School, and Notre Dame High School, having served on the PTO. She was a former president of St. Francis Borgia Altar Society. She also served on the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival committees including organizing the VIP luncheons, and helped with the Minor Court. She was also a member of the VFW Post No. 573 Ladies Auxillary in Clarksburg. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church, having served on the parish council and in the Women’s Club.

Family and friends will be received at the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to conclude visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Father Benedict Kapa and Father Hilarion Cann as con-celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
