Mary Jane Woodruff, 89, of Wadestown, died Tuesday (March 16, 2010) in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Jan. 16, 1921, at Wadestown, a daughter of the late Harry Tennant and Bertha Liming Tennant.
Mrs. Woodruff attended local schools in the Wadestown area and worked at Westinghouse in Fairmont for many years.
On June 28, 1959, she married her husband, Steadman Encil Woodruff, who survives.
Mary, having had no children of her own, is survived by several nieces and nephews, Jerry Yost, Gene D. Yost, Richard Tennant, Eilene Kucera, Gary Yost, Judy Ammons, Larry Yost, Janet Shriver, Mary Marlene Miller and Roger Yost; and also several great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Haskell D. Tennant; and one sister, Garnet Ogerette Yost; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mrs. Woodruff belonged to many organizations in her younger life, including Wadestown Homemakers Club, TOPS, Wadestown Fire Department, Lions Club, Share Helpers, Monongalia County Senior Advisory Board, Needle Club, Blacksville Family Service, the Battelle District Fair Association and Monongalia County Farm Bureau.
Friends will be received at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 4-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Tennant Cemetery at Pentress.
