MORGANTOWN — The West Fairmont Middle School wrestling team opened the season with two wins at the South Duals in Morgantown recently, finishing in 7th place despite missing several starters.
The Bear Cubs defeated Clay-Battelle (36-27) and Westwood (41-24) while losing to Cheat Lake (63-22), South Morgantown (42-41) and Mannington (45-36).
Anthony Alvaro (102) and Jaron Summers (275) both won all of their matches to finish 5-0 while Colin Masters (78), Brent Wyne (110) and Shea Fitch (128) each went 4-1. Joey Shearer (123) finished 3-2, Evan Gaines (84) and Wyatt Crawley (116) each had two victories and Daniel Crameans (90) won once. Full match results can be found at WVMAT.com.
