FAIRMONT — Daran Hays thinks of himself as a perfectionist. So while part of the North Marion football coach is pleased with his team’s play in 2009, the other half views his first year in the eyes of a skeptic, always wanting a little more.
But he did offer this after Friday’s 53-15 loss to Bridgeport, a fourth straight defeat that wrapped up a 3-7 season:
“I think we definitely turned the corner this season with our program,” he said.
Given what Hays inherited — a squad that went 1-9 last season and had lost 29 of its past 30 games — it’s a point that is hard to argue.
Especially when one considers how North played this season:
