A truckload containing coats, scarves and jackets benefitted many people in need last year, and Marion County Commissioner Randy Elliott wants to get the word out again for this year’s clothing drive.
“I think the need is greater than ever,” he said. “I think along with the necessity of providing food and nourishment for everybody and with what we saw this year with the toy giveaway, the need is just as important and just as strong for something to keep them warm.”
During the Marion County Commission meeting on Wednesday evening, he encouraged people to donate any jackets, scarves or coats for giveaway, in hopes that they would be just as successful as last year. More than 100 items were collected from the public last year, which made it a record-breaking year.
