Elliott excited about new role as CVB director

FAIRMONT — Leisha Elliott is excited “to tell the story of Marion County” as the new executive director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Marion County.

During its annual planning retreat and regular meeting on Feb. 6, the CVB Board of Directors voted unanimously to name Elliott as executive director, which was effective immediately.

“The board of directors of the CVB of Marion County feels that Leisha is uniquely qualified to serve as executive director,” said Amy Pellegrin, president of the board. “She has given outstanding service to the CVB, has a strong work ethic and many connections to Marion County.”

Elliott joined the CVB as group sales director in April 2011. She had officially been serving as interim executive director since Jan. 1 of this year following the retirement of Marianne Moran, who had spent nearly 20 years as executive director.

“She was a natural fit for the position,” Pellegrin said of Elliott. “Mari-anne Moran speaks highly of her abilities and her job performance. All the board members agree that she’s done an exceptional job.”

Elliott, who grew up right outside of Farmington, graduated from North Marion High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in business science from Fairmont State College. She lives in Mannington, her home for the past 20 years, with her husband Nelson and their children, Samuel, Grant, Mary and Adam.

For 15 years, Elliott was the owner of Fairview Floral, which she bought while she was still a student at Fairmont State. She was the program manager for Mannington Main Street for five years, and has also been a consultant for Main Street West Virginia.
