FAIRMONT —
The West Virginia Legislature will convene on Wednesday to tackle the difficult issues that are facing the state in the coming years.
“The budget’s probably going to be one of the toughest ones I’ve had to deal with,” said Delegate Mike Caputo, House majority whip. “We’re going to have to make decisions to keep the state financially sound.”
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has voiced his opposition to raising taxes in the face of declining revenues, and Caputo said that the Marion County delegation isn’t interested in pursuing higher taxes for anyone either.
“I’ve seen some preliminary examples of the governor’s budget,” said state Sen. Roman Prezioso, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, which is responsible for reviewing funding for bills.

Hearing set for murder suspects
