PLEASANT VALLEY —
The United Way of Marion County is almost home on its goal.
According to Executive Director Tiffany Samuels, the 2012-13 United Way campaign “Warm Up Marion County” is sitting at roughly 92 percent of its $455,000 goal. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised $419,600, and campaign co-chairwoman Dr. Doreen Larson of Pierpont Community & Technical College said additional donations are already coming in.
“We’re feeling grateful,” Larson said.
Her husband and co-chairman Len Larson added, “We’re very pleased with the community.
“They’re doing everything they can to make us successful.”
A donation of $15,000 from the South Fairmont Rotary Club from the proceeds of its annual “Celebration of Lights” pushed the campaign closer to its goal.
