FAIRMONT —
Police across the county have made arrests in drug, child-neglect and and malicious-assault cases.
The Mannington Police Department arrested Garrett Patrick Spencer, 20, of Mannington, on Tuesday on charges of fleeing while DUI, malicious assault and destruction of property.
According to criminal complaints, an officer on patrol noticed a white Jeep Cherokee with expired vehicle registration driven by Spencer. Spencer allegedly failed to pull over when the officer began a traffic stop and attempted to flee at speeds in excess of 65 mph.
At one point, Spencer reportedly pulled into a private driveway, striking a wooden post and reversing into the officer’s police cruiser. After further attempts at escape, he crashed his car into a tree and attempted to flee on foot, the complaint says.
