‘Feast’ brings ‘happy chaos’ to Fairmont

In seventh year, festival growing

FAIRMONT — Seven is a lucky number.

On Saturday, Fairmont celebrated its seventh Feast of the Seven Fishes, further cementing a tradition what has quickly become a signature celebration for the city.

Kate Greene, director of Main Street Fairmont, said that turnout was fantastic despite less-than-favorable weather conditions.

“The crowd has looked like this,” she said, gesturing at a packed Monroe Street, “since kind of around 10 o’clock (a.m.).”

The festival didn’t officially open until 11 a.m.

Greene, who recently returned to Fairmont after spending 16 years in Montana, not only planned the feast for the first time, but attended it as well.
