FAIRMONT —
Three Marion County residents were among the 38 persons arrested in a widespread roundup of fugitives conducted by the U.S. Marshal Office.
“Operation Recall” targeted subjects with outstanding felony capias warrants stemming from the state’s circuit courts, said Alex P. Neville, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal.
Beginning Aug. 19, Marshals conducted a week-long operation throughout the northern part of the state.
Arrested from Marion County were:
• Brian Messenger, 34, was arrested Aug. 24 at Montana Mines on failure to appear on felony delivery of marijuana in Marion County.
• Michelle Hamilton was arrested Aug. 24 at the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and First Street, Fairmont, on failure to appear on a larceny charge.
• John Parker was arrested Aug. 24 after surrendering to officers of the Fairmont City Police Department on failure to appear on domestic assault charges.
A fourth Marion County resident, Michael Eddy, had been targeted for failure to appear on aggravated assault charges, but the warrant was cleared Aug. 24 when officers received confirmed information that Eddy had died Nov. 28, 2011.

A Monongalia County man wanted in a three-city armed robbery spree that included Fairmont was arrested in Bridgeport Friday on three counts of first-degree robbery, said Alex Neville, supervisory deputy U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Three Rivers Festival features variety of entertainment
The 34th annual West Virginia Three Rivers Festival started in fine form Thursday night with a grand feature parade through downtown Fairmont, ending at Palatine Park with opening ceremonies.
