FAIRMONT —
Domestic violence continues to be a growing concern, and HOPE Inc., an agency of United Way of Marion County, is taking measures to combat the issue.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and HOPE has organized several activities scheduled to take place throughout the month.
The agency is always in need of volunteers who can become involved in services such as offering advocacy support to victims, providing transportation, assisting with the children’s program and staffing the domestic and sexual-assault hotline.
According to Athena Stima, adult/children’s case manager and volunteer coordinator at HOPE, a call is made to a domestic violence hotline in West Virginia every seven minutes.
