FAIRMONT —
One local group hopes a resolution from city council will be just the springboard they need.
Friends of Autism asked city council to approve a resolution in support of Project Lifesaver. After extensive discussion, the resolution passed unanimously, and council expressed a lot of interest in the program.
The resolution only expressed council’s support of the program; it didn’t create any relationships or offer financial help.
The Project Lifesaver website, www.projectlifesaver.org, says the organization provides equipment, training and support to law enforcement and community groups across the nation and world. According to the website, the group has 1,150 participating organizations in the United States, Canada and Australia.
The goal of the project is to protect people with cognitive disabilities, such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and autism.
