FAIRMONT —
A few weeks ago, Fairmont State University put out the call to “Jam the Joe,” packing the Joe Retton Arena for the rematch with University of Charleston’s men’s basketball team.
Saturday, at a home game between the Falcons and the West Liberty University Hilltoppers, no call was needed.
The arena was full from stem to stern of eager fans to watch Fairmont vie against the third-ranked, once-beaten NCAA Division II team in the country, and though the Falcons didn’t win, the crowd was right there with them for every dunk, every foul and every rebound.
“The spectacle, the crowds, the noise, the value and importance of the game,” Jack Hussey said, listing why he was excited about the game a few minutes into the second half. “Everything.”

Capias arrest warrant issued for Shaquille Lewis
A capias arrest warrant has been issued for Shaquille Lewis, the 19-year-old cousin of William Horton.
Lewis had been subpoenaed to testify at his cousin’s trial, which ended Friday in a four-count “not guilty” verdict. -
