McKinley: Uncertainty is stunting growth of the American economy

FAIRMONT — U.S. Rep. David McKinley is an engineer.

He is one of two serving in Congress, he’ll tell you, and one of 40-some small businessmen of out 535 representing the 50 states of the union.

It’s that common-sense approach to problems that comes from a mind used to solving problems on a day-by-day basis in the business world that has made him successful in his first term in the House, McKinley says.

And that approach is what this country needs now more than ever, he says, as the nation faces a crippling deficit, entitlement programs about to go bankrupt and joblessness and underemployment at record levels.

McKinley was first elected in 2010, beating Monongalia County state senator Mike Oliverio in the general election.
