FAIRMONT —
Darrell Vivian McGraw Jr., Democrat, is seeking re-election to serve a record sixth term as attorney general of West Virginia. Patrick Morrissey, Republican from Jefferson County, is contesting him.
McGraw, the incumbent 35th attorney general, was elected in 1992 and was re-elected in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008.
He was born Nov. 8, 1936, in McGraws-Tipple, Wyoming County, the eldest of four sons of Julia Zekany McGraw and the late Darrell V. McGraw. He is the brother of former West Virginia State Supreme Court Justice and state Senate President Warren McGraw.
He attended John McGraw School, Pineville High School, Berea Academy; is an honors graduate of the U.S. Army Leadership School; and earned bachelor’s, master’s and juris doctorate degrees at West Virginia University.
