FAIRMONT —
The West Virginia State Police have arrested a local man on a number of child pornography charges.
On Thursday, State Police arrested Gerald R. Stevens Jr., 55, of Fairmont, on five charges of use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor and 10 charges of distribution and exhibiting of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, a total of 15 charges.
According to criminal complaints, the investigation began Oct. 11, when a representative from Mon Power dropped two USB flash drives off at the Fairmont detachment of the State Police, advising that an employee had found them in a company truck. The employee reportedly opened the drives on his computer and discovered sexually explicit material involving minors, at which point he turned the drives over to the company.=
