FAIRMONT —
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department are investigating two pedestrian-auto accidents since Friday.
A man in his 50s was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 250 North near Metz around 11 p.m. Friday.
According to the sheriff’s department, the man, who was wearing dark clothing, was walking across the highway when he was struck by a vehicle coming around a bend in the road.
Reportedly a resident of Mannington, he was flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where, police say, his condition was stabilized.
He was reportedly unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived, but regained consciousness before being flown to Ruby.
No other information was available.
In the second incident, a woman was struck by a gray car on Shanty Hill Road in Four States at around 1 p.m. Monday.
She was flown to Ruby with what deputies called “serious injuries.”
Deputies arrested George Markley of Shanty Hill Road with third or subsequent offense DUI and third offense SRO-DUI, both felonies, said Marion County Sheriff Joe Carpenter.
