IDAMAY — A shooting in a small Idamay neighborhood Wednesday resulted in the death of one man and arrest of another.

Idamay resident Samuel Ramsey III, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for reportedly pulling the trigger that killed a victim in an alleged domestic dispute in the otherwise quiet community.

At around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a residence on High Street in Idamay, Sheriff Joe Carpenter said.

When officers arrived on the scene, one man was standing on a covered porch holding his hands in the air and another was lying face down and motionless in the yard on a grassy knoll. The man in the grass, who Carpenter said looked to be in his mid-40s, was pronounced dead on the scene from gunshot wounds.
