Snider finds ‘unique opportunity’

City manager leaving Fairmont for position in home community

By J. Miles Layton

FAIRMONT — City Manager Jim Snider officially tendered his resignation early Wednesday morning on the heels of a job offer as city administrator in his hometown, Canton, Ill.

Addressed to Mayor Matt Delligatti and city council, the letter said Snider’s last day will be Aug. 1.

“I find the situation with the City of Canton a unique opportunity to be close to my family as well as a chance to serve my home community as they develop the infrastructure for the new Cook Medical Facility that is under construction,” Snider’s letter said.

“This has not been an easy decision and took a lot of consideration. I would like to thank the mayor and the city council for giving me the privilege to serve the City of Fairmont the last year and a half. We faced some serious challenges together. I have made many great friends during my tenure here.”
