Teen killed in ATV accident

RACHEL — A juvenile female was killed in an ATV accident around 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Graham Road, according to Marion County Dispatch.

Marion Dispatch said two teenagers were riding an ATV along an old railroad bed when they lost control of the vehicle while crossing a bridge over Buffalo Creek. The pair fell more than 30 feet into the water below.

Farmington Fire Chief Jim Toothman said the girl died as a result of traumatic injuries sustained from the fall. He also said that neither of the teenagers was wearing a helmet.

The girl’s name is not being released to the media pending notification of the first of kin.

“It was very tragic,” Toothman said.

    A Mannington man has been indicted by the Marion County grand jury on 14 counts of sexual abuse.
    James Edward Carpenter, 34, of 100 Parkview Drive, Apt. 101, Mannington, is charged with four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of sexual abuse by parent, guardian or custodian.

    Jeremy Nathan Ferraro, 31, Fairmont, was indicted on forgery; uttering; obtaining money, property or services by false pretenses; and domestic battery, third offense.
