Taylor County Fairgrounds now being used for TrAIL project

FAIRMONT — The site many people know as the Taylor County Fairgrounds is temporarily being used for another purpose.

The Taylor County Fair Association has leased the fairgrounds property to Kenny Construction Company, the construction manager/contractor for Allegheny Energy’s Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line (TrAIL). Allen Staggers, manager of corporate communications for Allegheny, said the lease agreement was finalized at the end of April for an initial 30-month term.

In August, the West Virginia Public Service Commission issued an order approving Allegheny’s application to build the the TrAIL project, a 500-kilovolt electric transmission line that will cross Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia. The project has been approved by the utility commissions in all three states.
