Doctor arrested for wanton endangerment

FAIRMONT — A local physician has been arrested and charged with wanton endangerment Tuesday afternoon.

Kevin Michael Clarke, 47, of Route 9 Fairmont, was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies after a neighbor filed a complaint at approximately 9:30 p.m. Marion County Sheriff Joe Carpenter said the neighbor called police to report that she had found bullet fragments in her house.

County deputies investigated the scene and discovered “several” bullet holes in the home, Carpenter said. He added that officers traced the path of the bullets and determined that they had come from Clarke’s home.

“And the officers found several exit holes in his (Clarke’s) house,” Carpenter said.

According to the criminal complaint in the Marion County Magistrate Clerk’s office, Clarke allegedly discharged the firearm from inside his own residence. Carpenter said the two homes were approximately 70 feet apart. He added that he could not comment on the type of gun used in the incident.

Numerous officers were called to the scene, Carpenter said. He added that during the investigation, officers approached Clarke’s house and asked him to come outside. Carpenter said Clarke came outside and surrendered to officers without incident.

Clarke is employed at MED-PLUS LLC in Pleasant Valley, said an employee at the business. The employee would not comment as to how long Clarke had been employed with the company, saying that it would be “inappropriate.”

Clarke was arraigned before Marion County Magistrate Peggy Twyman. He posted a $10,000 cash or surety bond.

    James Edward Carpenter, 34, of 100 Parkview Drive, Apt. 101, Mannington, is charged with four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of sexual abuse by parent, guardian or custodian.
