KINGWOOD — The trial of a former teacher accused of murdering his girlfriend, her unborn child and her 4-year-old son is getting under way.
Jury selection in the James DeGasperin case started Monday in Preston County and was to resume Tuesday.
DeGasperin is charged with three counts of murder and two counts of concealment of bodies. He is accused of killing Lori Casteel, who was six months pregnant, and her son Collin with a baseball bat. Collin was also shot.
Police found the bodies April 15, 2007, in a vehicle a few hundred yards from the couple’s home.
DeGasperin taught physical education and health at Bruceton School.
His lawyer, Belinda Haynie, didn’t immediately return a phone call Tuesday morning.
