Contrary to a post on a national political website, Tim Manchin said he won’t run for Congress.
But that doesn’t mean he’s ruled out the possibility of a future run for a federal office.
Monday marked the first day of the West Virginia filing period. From now until Jan. 28, those wishing to run for office in the Mountain State must file with their county clerk’s office or the secretary of state’s office.
On Dec. 20, Politico.com reported Delegate Tim Manchin, D-Marion, had met with leaders from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee about running for the Democratic nod in the 1st Congressional District.
Manchin said that is accurate, but after a lot of thought over the holidays, he just can’t do it at this time.
