FAIRMONT —
Watson Elementary School has recently begun participation in the West Virginia Read Aloud Program based out of Charleston.
The program focuses on exposing children to various genres of reading material in hopes that they will be encouraged to further their reading outside of the classroom. There are 23 counties in West Virginia that participate in the program, and Watson is the first school in Marion County to become involved.
“We want to motivate children to read on their own,” Brittany Fracasso, a Title I teacher at Watson, said.
Fracasso said each class has a guest reader come in and read to them for 15 minutes one day each week.
