FAIRMONT — When there is a need, this community rises up to the challenge.
It has happened time and time again — from collecting supplies for flood and hurricane victims out of state to collecting toys and coats for needy children in our own county.
Last January, the Times West Virginian launched the Gift of Love food drive. For one month, community organizations, schools, businesses, municipalities and individuals broughts canned goods and nonperishable food items to the Times West Virginian’s business offices.
The end result was astounding. Pallet after pallet of food was delivered to eight agencies that serve the needy. Thousands of dollars worth of food was given to help stock food pantries across the county.
