Poky Dot could be shut down in January

Among businesses owned by Atkinsons, who claim ‘selective enforcement’ by city

FAIRMONT — The Poky Dot is on the spot because its owners owe thousands in back taxes to the city.

If the owners can’t come up with the money to pay five years worth of business and occupation (B&O;) taxes, the popular local restaurant on Fairmont Avenue will be shut down.

On Thursday, Marion County Circuit Court Judge Fred Fox issued an injunction prohibiting the Poky Dot among other businesses owned by Stephen and Deanna Atkinson from conducting business in the city unless the couple settle up accounts with the city by Jan. 18.
