Jay would ‘happily’ vote for health care bill

FAIRMONT — Despite the fact that the Senate’s health care bill doesn’t include a public option or a Medicare buy-in, Sen. Jay Rockefeller still believes this is incredibly important legislation to pass.

“If we pass this bill, and I think we will, it will be the most significant public reform of our health care system,” Rockefeller, chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, said Thursday during a telephone interview with the Times West Virginian.

In its current form, the Senate bill would give health coverage to 31 million Americans who are currently uninsured, and would also lay a foundation to begin lowering costs for millions of families, he said.
