FAIRMONT — A woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly robbing the Dollar General Store on Adams Street in downtown Fairmont.

Fairmont resident Rachel Lynn Hawkinberry, 33, stands accused of felony second-degree robbery for the alleged incident.

According to a release from the Fairmont Police Department, officers responded to a call of a robbery at the location. The caller said that a woman had entered the store, told the cashier she had a gun and demanded money. According to the police complaint, this action “placed the clerk in fear for her safety.”

A second employee then entered the area and the woman fled.

After scouring the area after arriving on scene, officers came across a woman in the vicinity of the Dollar General who was later identified as Hawkinberry. She was promptly taken into custody.

Hawkinberry is currently housed at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
