Nutrition program at Union Mission receives a boost

FAIRMONT — The nutrition program at the Fairmont Union Mission will receive a boost thanks to the Marion County Commission.

With funding needs following the recent replacement of the roof at the organization’s building, West Virginia Rescue Ministries Inc. solicited the commissioners for money last week.

But because the commissioners could not grant county funds to help fund repairs at a private building, although the Union Mission is a non-profit organization, they opted to award $5,000 to the mission’s nutrition program instead.

Commission President Randy Elliott said it is beneficial that the commissioners were able to grant these funds, especially during the holidays when there is a greater need for them.
