FAIRMONT — Any deer dancing through the woods during the next two weeks in West Virginia better watch out.
Hunters armed with guns started trolling the woods Monday and taking aim at deer near and far on the opening day of hunting season. Approximately 280,000 licensed hunters will be in West Virginia’s woods this season, according to the state’s Division of Natural Resources.
“We’ve been extremely busy because there are a lot of people out there hunting,” said Capt. Louis DellaMae of the DNR.

Parker said he was hunting on Plum Run when he saw an 8-point buck standing at the top of a hill about 150 yards away from his grandparents’ Shirley and Delmus’ house. He fired one shot from his Remington rifle.
