MANNINGTON — Now that Mannington is officially buying water from Fairmont, officials associated with one of Mannington’s two resale customers are wishing they could cut out the middle man.
But a 40-year contract and a financial obligation to Mannington make this wish a long shot, officials say.
Downs Public Service District serves about 480 customers near North Marion High School as a resale customer of Mannington. In the past two years, Downs merged management operations with Ices Run and Monumental public service districts, which are direct resale customers of Fairmont.
Ned Poe, treasurer for Monumental PSD, explained this during a rate-case hearing in Mannington Friday before members of the West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC).
