Senior FSU athlete victim of nonfatal shooting

Henry Richardson hospitalized after incident outside bar; police still investigating

FAIRMONT — The victim of an early morning nonfatal shooting outside of a Fairmont Avenue bar Friday was a senior athlete at Fairmont State University.

Although police would not confirm the name of the victim, only that it was a man, a source close to the Times West Virginian reported that he is Huger, S.C., native Henry Richardson, a senior outside linebacker on FSU’s football team. Richardson is 6 feet tall and 210 pounds.

A statement issued by FSU public relations director Amy Pellegrin Friday also confirmed that the victim was a student-athlete at the university.

Fairmont Detective Sergeant Matt Pigott said, according to witnesses, that the incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of WizeGuyz bar. There was only one victim, but “several people” were involved in a discussion leading up to the shooting, Pigott said.
