FAIRMONT — Tow trucks are on standby to reel in vehicles that were ticketed by police last weekend as part of Phase I of Project Safe Neighborhood.
Lt. Kelley Moran, Fairmont Police, said at least 10 cars parked illegally or abandoned in the Fourth Street area around Walnut Avenue were ticketed so as to warn the owners that if nothing was done, these cars would be towed on Saturday.
“We want to remind people that we are going to be enforcing all parking code violations along with abandoned vehicle codes,” he said.
Project Safe Neighborhood is a collaborative effort between the City of Fairmont, Fairmont State University, the Marion County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office and Fairmont’s fire and building and code inspection departments.
