By Mallory Panuska

MANNINGTON — Although Mannington water customers are still awaiting word on a proposed total 70 percent water-rate increase, they will still be paying more for water following the recent approval of an interim rate hike.

Earlier this week, the West Virginia Public Service Commission officially approved an interim rate increase of 42.7 percent for all direct and resale city customers.

City Clerk Michele Fluharty told city council members that this rate was approved during a meeting earlier this week. According to PSC documents, the average minimum-usage customer’s bill will come in at $20.43 per month.
