Middle schoolers scheduled for flights to nation’s capital

BRIDGEPORT — If everything goes as Benedum Airport Authority members plan, groups of middle schoolers from Marion and Harrison counties will be boarding a plane to the nation’s capital for a day of aviation education next month.

Wednesday, authority members met and discussed plans for two upcoming charter flights to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., that are currently in the works at the North Central West Virginia Airport.

Airport authority president Ron Watson, who also serves as a Harrison County commissioner, said the total estimated $90,000 cost of the charters will come from several sources.
