Person killed in Sunday crash

Collision remains under investigation

FAIRMONT — A man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a small compact car near Exit 137 off W.Va. 310 Grafton Road around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy J. Bledsoe said the two people inside the car were taken to an area hospital.

Bledsoe said the man driving the motorcycle was headed east on W.Va. 310 when the bike collided into a westbound car in front of the entrance ramp onto I-79 north. He died at the scene.

Pending notification of family members, the man’s name has not been released to the media.

Bledsoe said the crash is under investigation.

    A Fairmont man has been indicted by the Office of the United States Attorney Northern District of West Virginia on a child pornography charge.
    Clyde Bates, 67, was named in a one-count indictment charging him with possession of child pornography in Fairmont on Aug. 27, 2010.

  • Man indicted on 14 counts of sexual abuse

    A Mannington man has been indicted by the Marion County grand jury on 14 counts of sexual abuse.
    James Edward Carpenter, 34, of 100 Parkview Drive, Apt. 101, Mannington, is charged with four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of sexual abuse by parent, guardian or custodian.
