FAIRMONT — The state has awarded nearly $10,000 to help honor veterans in Marion County.
Wednesday, commissioners passed a resolution for a $9,999 Governor’s Community Participation grant to help fund the construction of the developing Korean War Veterans Memorial and the All Foreign War Memorial Wall at Pricketts Fort.
Currently, county surveyor Norman Kronjaeger said the Korean War Memorial is coming along on Fairmont’s East Side. He informed the commissioners that the grading and utility line work has just started and that this money will help advance the project.
“It is moving along slowly,” he said.

Spring paving under way
