Increased patrols appear to be making impact

FAIRMONT — In November of 2008, two men had a heated argument outside a residence in front of an aging, two-story home off a small side street by Locust Avenue near Fourth Street.

There was a chill in the air as one man shouted he had been cheated. The other man, a small-time drug dealer, told his client that he got what he paid for, nothing less.

After some verbal sparring, the first man pulled out a knife and threatened to “cut” the dealer right then and there.

The dealer tried to defuse the situation, but said he was ready for a fight.
