FAIRMONT — A budding deal between Verizon and Frontier Communications is receiving some opposition from a local branch of an international labor union.
And Wednesday, representatives of this group came before the Marion County Commission looking for support against the proposed merger.
Members of the Communications Workers of America Local 2004 (CWA) are concerned about Frontier taking over Verizon landlines in West Virginia primarily because of the significant debt the new company would be incurring, West Virginia State Council President David J. Fox explained to the commissioners.
“We are deeply concerned if Frontier can survive,” he said.
