FAIRMONT — Tuesday will be the end of an era as Rivesville Councilman Leo DeMary formally retires from service.

Last week, DeMary sent a letter to Mayor Ed Mahalick stating his intention to resign at Tuesday’s meeting. DeMary’s letter states “it has been professionally and personally rewarding to work with you along with city council members who have been committed to making Rivesville the best it can be.”

DeMary’s letter said he looked forward to spending more time with his family.

With his children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren nearby, DeMary’s got plenty of family around to keep him busy. His twin brother, Fred, has been experiencing some health problems, DeMary said. His wife passed away in 2000.
