Kingmill Valley PSD files for rate hike

PSC reviewing request, first one made since 2002

FAIRMONT — For the first time since 2002, the Kingmill Valley Public Service District has filed for a rate increase for residential and commercial sewage customers in and around Pleasant Valley and Kingmont.

“Primarily, this rate increase is for the escalating cost of doing business,” manager Ed Abbadini said of the proposed 7.4 percent hike currently being reviewed by the West Virginia Public Service District.

Abbadini explained that the cost of everything from gasoline to treatment to parts and labor has gone up, and the utility can no longer sustain the prices at its current rates.
